• Utah State (15-6, 5-1) will play just one game this week as it hosts Nevada (12-7, 4-2) on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. The game will be televised by KJZZ-TV. USU is 25-10 all-time against the Wolf Pack, which includes an 11-1 record at home. Last week, Utah State split a pair of road games as it defeated Louisiana Tech, 71-61, and lost at New Mexico State, 100-70. Against the Bulldogs, senior guard Jaycee Carroll had a game-high 16 points, while junior forward Gary Wilkinson added 15 points and nine rebounds. As a team, USU shot 64.3 percent from the field as compared to 40.4 percent for LTU. Against NMSU, freshman guard Tyler Newbold scored a career-high 20 points and added a career-high seven rebounds, while Carroll scored 17 points. USU shot just 45.1 percent in the game, while New Mexico State shot 54.9 percent. On the season, Utah State is led by Carroll who is averaging 21.1 points and 5.9 rebounds per game and shooting 53.2 percent from the field, 51.2 percent from three-point range and 92.9 percent from the free throw line. Two other players are scoring in double-figures for USU as Wilkinson is averaging 12.6 points and 6.2 rebounds, while senior forward Stephen DuCharme is averaging 10.5 points and 5.8 rebounds. As a team, USU is averaging 72.2 points and shooting 50.3 percent from the field, 39.7 percent from three-point range and 78.3 percent from the free throw line, while its opponents are scoring 67.9 points and shooting 44.0 percent from the field, 37.3 percent from three-point range and 70.6 percent from the free throw line.

• Utah State's track and field teams will travel to Colorado Springs, Colo., this weekend to compete in the Air Force Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 1-2. Last week, Utah State had eight individual winners to go along with seven individuals who posted Western Athletic Conference leading times at the Cougar Indoor Invitational hosted by Washington State. Highlighting USU's women's team was sophomore Erin Stratton who won the mile with a time of 4:59.87, which ranks eighth all-time at USU. On the men's side junior Nick Karren and sophomore Steve Strickland both recorded personal-bests with their first-place finishes in the 400m and 3000m with times of 48.66 and 8:25.63, respectively. Other Aggie women to perform well included senior Amy Egan who set a meet record in the 800m with a time of 2:11.95, sophomore Krista Larson who won the weight throw (54-02.75) and freshman Sonia Grabowska who won the pole vault (11-11.75). Freshmen Chio Lopez and Silas Pementel also won events in the mile and 200m with times of 4:17.20 and 22.26, respectively.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

• Utah State (6-13, 2-5) will play just one game this week as it travels to Reno, Nev., to face Nevada (14-5, 5-1) on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 8 p.m. (MT). USU is 3-4 all-time against the Wolf Pack. Last week, Utah State lost a pair of home games to New Mexico State, 71-58, and Louisiana Tech, 71-56. Against NMSU, senior forward Jenny Gross scored a career-high 19 points as USU shot 43.8 percent from the field, while the southern Aggies shot 53.1 percent. Against Louisiana Tech, senior guard Taylor Richards scored 18 points, while junior guard Danyelle Snelgro had 11 points. In the game, Utah State shot just 28.3 percent from the field as compared to 44.2 percent shooting for the Lady Techsters. On the season, Snelgro is leading the team with 10.4 points per game, while Richards is averaging 10.3 points. As a team, Utah State is averaging 61.9 points on the season and shooting 37.7 percentage from the field, 33.4 percent from three-point range and 73.4 percent from the free throw line, while its opponents are scoring 65.2 points and shooting 44.0 percent from the field, 35.2 percent from three-point range and 70.3 percent from the free throw line.

GYMNASTICS

• Utah State's gymnastics team (1-3) will take the week off before traveling to Cedar City, Utah on Monday, Feb. 4 to face Southern Utah University. Last week, USU notched a 1-1 record as it lost at home to Boise State, 195.700-192.400, and then recorded its first win of the season at Cal State Fullerton, 191.700-191.600. Junior Nicki Felley paced USU as she won the all-around in both meets with a season-high 38.775 against BSU and a 38.650 against CSF. Against the Broncos, Utah State had scores of 47.350 on the bars, 48.475 on the vault, 47.650 on the beam and 48.725 on the floor. Against the Titans, USU had scores of 48.450 on vault, 48.025 on bars, 46.775 on beam and 48.450 on floor. Along with Felley, USU had two other individual winners against Cal State Fullerton on Sunday as freshman Jasmine Minion won the vault with a season-high 9.875, which is tied for the fourth-highest score on that apparatus in school history, while freshman Nicole Simoneau tied for first on the uneven bars with a score of 9.800.

• Utah State's men's tennis team (1-3) will take the week off before playing three matches next week against Northern Arizona, Idaho and New Mexico State in Las Cruces, N.M. Last week, USU lost to No. 68 Utah, 7-0, in Salt Lake City. Competing for Utah State in the dual were seniors Mike Banks, Fernando Gallegos and Jonas Tyden, junior Jakob Asplund, and sophomores Oscar Ericsson and Matt Searle.

• Utah State's women's tennis team (0-1) will return to action this week as it plays at Utah on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 3 p.m. The Aggies began their 2008 Spring season with a 7-0 loss at No. 28 Brigham Young on Friday, Jan. 18. Competing for USU during the match was junior Bridgette Strickland, sophomores Brianna Harris and Britney Watts, and freshmen Jennifer Johnson, Taylor Perry and Hailey Swenson.
