Amy Egan Named WAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week

Feb. 11, 2008

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's track athlete Amy Egan has been named the Western Athletic Conference Women's Track Athlete Of The Week, announced Monday by the conference office.

Egan, a senior from Latrobe, Pa. (Greater Latrobe HS), was one of two Aggies who placed first in their individual events at the Boise State Bronco Invitational. She won the 800 meters with a WAC leading and personal-best time of 2:10.33, bettering her conference-leading time by a second and a half. The time was also the second-fastest in USU history, just .03 behind the school record of 2:10.30 set in 2006 by Jill Steele. Egan also has the third spot on the list with a 2:10.70 run last year.

This is the first career weekly WAC track award for Egan.

Utah State's track and field teams will head to Seattle, Wash. to compete in the Washington Invitational Friday and Saturday, Feb. 15-16, in USU's final tune-up for the WAC Indoor Championships, Feb. 28-March 1 at Boise, Idaho.
