Steven Strickland Earns Academic All-District Honors

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State track athlete Steven Strickland has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District VIII men's track and field/cross country second-team it was announced on Thursday.

Strickland, a sophomore from Orem, Utah, has a cumulative 3.61 grade-point average in biology.

During the 2007-08 season, Strickland claimed two Western Athletic Conference championships as he won the 3,000 meter steeplechase during the outdoor season and the 3,000 meters during the indoor season. He also placed second in the 5,000 meters and seventh in the 1,500 meters at the WAC Outdoor Championships, and third in the 5,000 meters during the WAC Indoor Championships to help the Aggies claim the team title.

Strickland also earned first-team all-WAC honors in cross country this past season, as he placed third at the 2007 WAC Championships helping Utah State win its third straight WAC title.

District VIII is made up of schools from Arizona, California, Hawai'i, Oregon, Utah and Washington.
