Guy Pleased With Monday's First Practice In Full Pads
March 24, 2008
LOGAN, Utah - After three practices in shorts, T-shirts and helmets, the Utah State football team donned full pads for Monday's practice and USU head coach Brent Guy was impressed with what he saw in the Aggies' fourth practice of the spring at Romney Stadium. "I was very pleased with the physical part of it," Guy said. "We had a series of third-and-one's that we started the live series with, because we had several situations last year where we needed a stop defensively so we can get the ball back, or on the other side, we had to continue the drive on offense." Guy was impressed with players on both sides of the ball. "We had some big plays today on both sides," Guy said. "Derrvin Speight had a nice, long run and Rob Myers made a nice catch, then on defense, Kyle Gallagher picked a ball and ran it back for a touchdown. So we had big plays both ways. The main thing was that it was much more physical than in years past because of our numbers, we have a lot more guys to get in there and we were able to get quite a few live snaps in." The Aggies will practice Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of this week, then Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday over the next two weeks, concluding with the spring scrimmage on Friday, April 11 at 4 p.m. All practices and the spring scrimmage are open to the public and are held at Romney Stadium, weather permitting, then they are in the Laub Indoor Training Facility. |
