Trio Of Aggies Acknowledged By CollegeFootballNews.com

July 17, 2007

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State football players Ben Calderwood, Kevin Robinson and Pace Jorgensen were acknowledged with preseason all-WAC team honors by CollegeFootballNews.com. Junior DE Calderwood was tabbed to the first-team list, while seniors WR/KR Robinson and OL Jorgensen were named to the second-team. Both Calderwood and Robinson were also on the Top 30 WAC players list, with Calderwood listed at No. 11 and Robinson at No. 16.

Calderwood, a native of Smithfield, Utah (Sky View HS), has now been tabbed to a total of seven preseason all-WAC lists. The honors list includes Athlon, Blue Ribbon Yearbook, cbs.sportsline.com, CollegeFootballNews.com, Lindy's College Football Preview, Street & Smith and Sporting News. Calderwood is also on the Ted Hendricks Defensive End of the Year Award Watch List.

Last season Calderwood earned second-team all-WAC after leading USU's defensive linemen with 44 tackles despite missing two games. He also was second on the team with 6.5 tackles for loss and tied for second in sacks with two. Calderwood earned WAC Defensive Player of the Week honors on Oct. 9 after USU's win against Fresno State, in which his nine tackles against the Bulldogs were the most by an Aggie lineman since 2003.

Robinson, a Fresno, Calif., native (Hoover HS), received his third preseason all-WAC team listing, as he was on Lindy's, as well as on Phil Steele's list as both as wide receiver and kick returner. Last season Robinson led USU with 36 receptions for 582 yards and five touchdowns. He produced two 100-yard receiving games with a career-best 141 at Louisiana Tech and 101 in the season finale against New Mexico State. Robinson enters his senior season ranked eighth on USU's career TD list with 16. He also is 10th on the career receiving yards with 1,845 and 11th on the career receptions list with 123. Robinson has four returns for touchdowns in his career, with three punt returns and one kickoff return.

Jorgensen, who hails from Grantsville, Utah (Grantsville HS), also garnered his third preseason all-WAC team listing, as he was also on both Lindy's and Phil Steele's lists. The offensive guard enters his senior season with 27 career starts, which are the most on the team. Jorgensen started 11 of 12 games last season, missing only the Louisiana Tech game due to injury, as he started 18 consecutive games before the LTU contest.

Utah State opens the 2007 season on Thursday, Aug. 30, hosting UNLV in a 6:05 p.m. kick off at Romney Stadium.
