USU Women's Basketball Hosts La Tech Saturday On "Pack The House Night"

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State continues Western Athletic Conference action at home against Louisiana Tech on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. Saturday is "Pack the House Night" with the WAC Play Up Tour in attendance. Free T-shirts and stocking caps are available while supplies last.

Utah State is 6-12 on the season after falling against New Mexico State, 71-58, on Thursday. USU, who is sixth in the WAC with a 2-4 league record, is led by junior guard Danyelle Snelgro who is averaging 10.3 points, 3.0 assists and 2.7 steals per game, while senior guard Taylor Richards is averaging 9.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.1 steals per game. As a team, Utah State is first in the WAC in free throw percentage (.736) and second in steals (9.78 spg).

Richards is also tied for first on the Career Three-Pointers Made list with former teammate Brittany Hagen (2003-07, 83 three-pointers made) and needs one three-pointer to take over the record.

Louisiana Tech is 8-10 overall and fifth in the WAC with a 2-3 league mark, after falling at Nevada, 74-70, on Thursday. The Lady Techsters are led by JoKierra Sneed's 13.9 points and 10.3 rebounds per game, while Shanavia Dowdell is averaging 12.1 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. As a team, La Tech is first in the conference in both rebounding (45.1 rpg) and rebounding margin (+5.9).

Saturday is the fifth meeting between Utah State and Louisiana Tech, as the Lady Techsters have won all four previous meetings, including a 71-58 victory on Feb. 24, 2007 in Logan.

USU opens a four-game road stretch starting at Nevada (13-5, 4-1 WAC) on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 8 p.m. (MT) at UNR's Lawlor Events Center (11,536).
