Utah State Soccer Alumni Tournament A Success

LOGAN, Utah - Six players from the inaugural Utah State women's soccer team returned to play in the USU Soccer Alumni Tournament on Feb. 9. A total of 31 former USU soccer players participated in the small-sided tournament held at the Stan Laub Indoor Facility.

The six members of the inaugural 1996 team who returned to play were Karly Christensen (1996-99), Trisha Cracroft (1996-99), Stacee Flygare (1996-97), Nicole Rothey (1996-97), Brittney (Killian) Sheen (1996-99) and Michelle (Pidge) Winburn (1996-99).

Other players included two seniors from the 2007 season: Abby Hunt (2004-07) and Dana (Peart) Smith (2004-07). Smith left USU with 76 matches played, tying for first-place with Sierra (Smith) McQueen (2003-06). She also finished fourth on the USU career goals list (15) and fifth on the career points list (37).

Several other USU career record holders that attended included Amber (Tracy) Smith (2000-03), USU's single-season assists record holder (seven assists in 2003) and second in career assists (11); Charlsie Harris (2002-06), second in matches played (75); Tiffany (Jones) McQueen (2002-05), fourth in matches played (72); Megan (Edge) Tanner (1999-2002), second in number of matches started (70); and Megan Mills (2001-04), USU's leader in career saves (273) and whose career shutouts mark of 14 was broken this season by junior Ali Griffin.Mills is also third all-time with a goals against average of 1.18.
