San Diego State Shuts Out USU Softball Sunday, 4-0

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Utah State softball wrapped up the Campbell Cartier Classic being shutout by host San Diego State, 4-0, Sunday afternoon.

USU finished the weekend with a 2-2 record in the Classic and is now 2-7 on the season, while San Diego State improves to 8-1.

The game remained scoreless through two innings as the defenses of both teams were put to work before SDSU scored its first run in the bottom of the third with a single to left center. The Aztecs added another run in the fourth and two in the fifth to round out their scoring.

Senior third baseman Amy Schaible had two of USU's three hits in the game while sophomore right fielder Michelle Workman had the other with a double in the second inning.

Junior Lindsey Benson took the loss in the circle, falling to 2-6 on the year.

The Aggies take a three-week break from a action and then play at Colorado State on March 8-9. Games start at Noon on both days and a doubleheader is scheduled for March 8.
