Utah State Softball Closes Out WAC Regular Season Action At Hawai'i

HONOLULU, Hawai'i - Utah State softball wraps up its regular season this weekend with a three-game Western Athletic Conference series at Hawai'i on Saturday and Sunday, May 3-4. Action starts at 6 p.m. (MT) on both days with a doubleheader scheduled for Saturday. Live stats of all three games will be available via the USU web site at www.UtahStateAggies.com.

Utah State is 14-29 on the season and seventh-place in the WAC with a 2-12 record, after posting a 3-2 record last week against Idaho State and Northern Colorado. USU is led by junior DP Kayla Dunn's .379 average which ranks fifth in the conference, while junior P Lindsey Benson leads the team with a 4.37 ERA and has struck out 131 in 181 innings of work. As a team, USU is first in the conference walks (157), fifth in home runs (33), sixth in doubles (53) and tied for sixth in batting average (.273).

Hawai'i is 33-17 on the year and currently in third-place in the WAC with a 7-7 record. The Rainbow Wahine were swept at No. 10 Fresno State last weekend by scores of 4-3, 3-2 and 2-1. UH is led offensively and defensively by senior 1B/P Katie Robinson's .376 average to rank seventh in the league, while she is third in the conference with a 1.90 ERA. As a team, Hawai'i is third in batting (.287), fourth in home runs (36), fifth in doubles (59) and seventh in walks (99).

Utah State 16-23 all-time versus Hawai'i, having lost 15 of the last 20 meetings. Last year, the Rainbow Wahine swept the Aggies in Logan.

This is USU's final tune-up for next week's WAC Tournament at Honolulu, Hawai'i, May 7-10 at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
