USU Women's Tennis Squeaks Past Vikings, 4-3

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's tennis defeated Portland State, 4-3, Sunday afternoon at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club in Logan. The Aggies improve to 4-9 on the season, while the Vikings fall to 4-8 overall. USU captured wins at No. 1 and 2 doubles to go up 1-0 early. Sophomore Brianna Harris and junior Bridgette Strickland defeated PSU's Lacey Pflibsen and Molly Knox, 8-6, in the No. 1 spot, while USU sophomore Britney Watts and freshman Hailey Swenson paired up at No. 2 to take down Caitlin Stocking and Alyssa Ferry, 8-6. Utah State's Harris and Swenson continued their winning ways at No. 1 and No. 2 singles as Harris beat Pflibsen, 6-4, 6-4 and Swenson battled Stephanie Fuchs to a three-set match, winning 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. USU sophomore Marie Livingston tallied her third singles win this week at No. 6 with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Stocking. The Aggies take a three week break from action and continue on March. 28 against Dixie State. Utah State 4, Portland State 3
