With WIAC Title in Hand, Division III Nationals up Next for the Women of No. 1 UW-La Crosse

NEW ORLEANS - The women of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse remained the top-ranked program in the women's USTFCCCA Division III Coaches Indoor Track and Field Power Rankings released today by the coaches association. The Eagles dominated the WIAC meet scoring 192.33 points en route to their second straight WIAC title. No. 8 Wisconsin- Eau Claire finished second followed by No. 3 Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Moving up to number two this week in the rankings is St. Thomas. The Tommies will be heading to the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor meet this weekend in hopes of 21st indoor title. UW-Oshkosh follows St. Thomas at No. 3. Nos. 4 and 5, Wartburg and Tufts, remained the same this week. Wartburg won the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title over the weekend.

Beginning the second half of the top ten is sixth-ranked North Central College. North Central competed in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin indoor meet and finished second overall to seventh-ranked Illinois Wesleyan.

UW-Eau Claire moves up to No. 8 in the rankings this week following the runner-up performance at the WIAC Championships. Augustana College (Ill.) and Washington University (Mo.) follow Eau Claire at Nos. 9 and 10 respectively.

Other conference champions in the top 25 this week are No. 12 Monmouth (Ill.) (Midwest Conference), No. 13 St. Lawrence (Liberty League), No. 16 Roanoke College (Old Dominion Athletic Conference), No. 21 College of New Jersey (NJAC) and No. 23 Rochester (New York State Collegiate Track Conference).

The 2008 NCAA Men's and Women's Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held March 14-15, 2008 at the ONU Sports Center. Ohio Northern University is the host for the championships.


 

 

Wisconsin-La Crosse is the top-ranked Division III men's team.
