Sprinters Highlight Utah State Meet

LOGAN, Utah - With the Utah Valley distance runners taking the week off for the most part, the Wolverine sprinters, jumpers and throwers made their mark at the Mark Faldmo Classic hosted by Utah State. True freshman jumper Whitney Aste had one of the more noteworthy marks of the day as she tied a school record held by Noelle Pace in the high jump. Aste's leap of 5 feet, six inches. The women's sprint team dominated the 100 meter dash with four sprinters finishing in the top-10. Mariama Salifu with a time of 11.76 while Chelsea Baker finished fifth, Tiera Zaugg seventh and Shantay Hall ninth. On the men's side hurdlers Cory Pierson and Andrew Graham had stellar days. Pierson finished fourth and Graham fifth in the 110 meter hurdles with respective times of 14.75 and 14.82. Graham also had a strong time in the 400 meter hurdles, finishing third running a 54.22. Next up the Wolverines will head to BYU for a meet next Friday and Saturday. |
