Washington Makes it Two Straight With 12-3 Win
March 21, 2008
SEATTLE, Wash. - Washington jumped out to a big lead early and won for the second straight day, 12-3, over Utah Valley on Friday night in Seattle. The Wolverines (4-15-1) have now lost four straight after falling 2-0 to Portland earlier in the day while the Huskies (11-6) have won six straight. Washington scored two in the first and three each in the second and the third to take an 8-0 lead after three innings. The UW lead was 10-0 before Utah Valley was able to end a 16 inning scoreless streak with a two-run sixth with one of the runs coming on an RBI single from Ryan Jones. Brian Pearl hit a two-run home run in the sixth to answer the two UV runs before Josh Hinckley hit his first home run in the top of the seventh for the final 12-3 tally. TJ Stone pitched two perfect innings out of the bullpen for the Wolverines while Max Harris led off the third inning with his first career collegiate base hit, a line drive into right field. The Wolverines will try to salvage the final game of the series on Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 12pm MT. |
