OREM, Utah - Ben Kjar recorded his NCAA Division I leading 38th win of the season as Utah Valley rolled to a 38-7 win over Mesa State on Friday.

Kjar, a 125 pound freshman, made quick work of Jason Blasdel, pinning the Mesa State wrestler with 31 seconds left in the opening period. The fall, Kjar's 10th of the season, came after he built a big 14-2 lead on three takedowns and three nearfalls.

Mark Dennis opened the night with a win by forfeit at 197 pounds followed by Billy Green's hard fought 3-2 win over Brandon Alexander at 285 pounds.

Another Mesa State forfeit at 133 pounds gave Logan Wilson a win and put the Wolverines (8-11) up 21-0 five matches in.

Jeff Newby made it 25-0 UV when he scored a major decision win over Keith JOhnson. Newby, who led 4-3 after the opening period, outscored Johnson 12-2 over the final four minutes to earn the victory.

Another forfeit, the Mavericks' third of the day, gave Sam Allen a win and UV six more points, pushing the score to 31-0.

Mesa State got on the board with wins at 157 and 165 pounds, making the score 31-7.

At 174 pounds, senior Marc Fenwick fell behind 2-0 and 4-2 before rolling off 12 straight points to pick up a major decision win over Tyrel Stout. Fenwick scored on a takedown late in the second and a nearfall as time expired to take a 7-4 lead after two.

After starting down in the third, Fenwick scored quickly on an escape to make it 8-4 before a takedown and another three-point nearfall gave him a 13-4 edge before adding riding time to win 14-4.

Casen Eldredge ended the night with a 5-0 shutout against Andy Laiminger. Eldredge took a 2-0 lead 32 seconds into the match with a takedown. He added an escape and another takedown in the second period before a scoreless third.

Next up for the Wolverines is their final match of the season, Monday night against Portland State at 7pm in the Shurian Family Activity Center. It's senior night as Sam Allen, Marc Fenwick and Nate Kearsley will be wrestling in their final collegiate match.
