Pack the House! Monday at 7:05pm vs. Chicago State
Jan. 27, 2008
OREM, Utah - Utah Valley will finally play its first home game in nearly a month when the Wolverines host Chicago State on Monday at 7:05pm in The McKay Center. The game can be heard live at WolverineGreen.com. Monday's game is "Pack the House" night, part of an NCAA sponsored attendance challenge against the rest of the nation's Division I independent schools. Families can get into the game for just $10. Utah Valley (13-6) has lost three straight games after Thursday's 94-78 setback against independent CSU Bakersfield. Junior Robyn Fairbanks scored 20 points, the seventh straight game she has scored 20 or more. Fairbanks currently leads all independents in points (24.1), rebounds (9.5) and field goal percentage (56%). Her scoring average has her ranked fourth nationally. Junior Lauren Smith hit all four of her field goal attempts to finish with eight points while tying a career-high with eight rebounds in 13 minutes at Bakersfield. Rebekah Peterson hit 6-of-8 from the field and scored 14 for UV. Junior Sandy Marvin is seven points shy of 1,000 for her career. Marvin, who will play in her 75th career game on Monday night, will become the second Wolverine to reach that mark after Fairbanks did it during the 2006-07 season, just 49 games into her career. Chicago State is 8-11 after falling by seven on Saturday at NJIT. Monday's game will be the first time the two teams will meet with Utah Valley making the trip to Chicago to face the Cougars on February 23rd. Junior Jasmin Dixon leads CSU and is second behind Fairbanks among independents with an average of 17.4 points per game. Dixon is the reigning independent player of the week. After Monday's contest, Utah Valley will have over a week off before hosting NJIT (February 7) and Texas-Pan American (February 9). |
