Box Score

GREELEY, Colo. - After losing the first of a double header in heartbreaking fashion for the second time in two days, Utah Valley regrouped and picked up a come-from-behind victory to split with Northern Colorado, losing 5-2 and winning 6-5.

"I told the girls I was happy with the way they competed all weekend, win or lose," UV head coach Todd Fairbourne. "We played solid ball both days."

In the first game, Alli Bramwell pitched in a pitchers duel to the end of the game. Bramwell surrendered just one run until the bottom of the seventh when Northern Colorado came up with a walk off grand slam to win the game.

The Wolverines scored runs in the top of the second and third innings to take a 2-1 lead. In the second Shelly Manuel scored when she tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly from Sara Roskelley. In the third, UV scored on a RBI single from Jessica Anderson that scored Cherylyn McGraw.

The game remained a 2-1 advantage until the bottom of the seventh.

In game two, after the Wolverines took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second, it was the Bears that led most of the way. UNC led 5-3 after five innings before the Wolverines came from behind.

Utah Valley scored in the top of the second when Anderson doubled and scored later on a Natalie Nance RBI single. After being held off the scoreboard in the top of the third, the Wolverines scored in each of the final four innings.

In the fourth, Heidi Stocks hit a solo home run. In the fifth, McGraw came up with an RBI double that scored Bramwell. Anderson scored in the sixth to cut the deficit to 5-4 on a RBI double from Kylee Steadman setting up the big two-run seventh.

After McGraw and Bramwell got aboard in the inning, Stocks delivered the go-ahead, two-run double. In the bottom of the seventh, Nance pitched out of a jam, hanging on for the complete-game victory.

The Wolverines will stay on the road when they travel to Idaho State next week to finish the season series with the Bengals in Pocatello, Idaho.
