Indoor Track Completes First Day of NEC Championships



Senior Bryan Pagliuca's Second Place 2.01m High Jump is a Season Best

Landover, MD - The Wagner Track & Field team completed the first of two days at the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships with the women holding steady in fifth place while the men are currently in seventh.

Stand out performances for the women start in the 500, where senior Jessica Ford's (Neptune, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) 1:20.07 and freshman Jessica Balling's (Seaford, NY/MacArthur) 1:20.97 performances qualified both runners for the finals. In the 1 Mile, junior Brecken Drager (Loomis, CA/Del Oro) qualified with a 5:02.12 performance while junior standout Alaina Alfano (East Hanover, NJ/Hanover Park) qualified for both the 60m hurdles, finishing in 9.14 seconds, and the long jump, leaping 5.47m for second place.

Sophomore James Johnston (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) started things off for the men in the 1 Mile, qualifying for the finals with a 4:28.99 performance. Senior Bryan Pagliuca (Ronkomkoma, NY/Connetquot) topped his season best in the high jump with a 2.01m bound, tying him for second place and granting him a birth in the finals.

The second day and final day of the NEC Championships begins February 10th.
