Wagner to Host Quinnipiac in 7:00 pm Senior Night Showdown with Quinnipiac



James Ulrich, who enter's tonight's game nine points shy of the 1,000-point mark, will be honored on Senior Night along with Mark Porter and Durell Vinson

ABOUT THE SEAHAWKS... The Seahawks (21-7, 14-3 NEC) will be gunning for their school-record 22nd victory of the season on Senior Night vs. Quinnipiac at the friendly confines of the Spiro Center where Wagner is a perfect 8-0 in NEC play. A victory would also tie the school record for NEC wins in a season. A large crowd is expected to be on hand and the game will be televised live via tape delay on Time Warner Cable. The Seahawks have earned the No. 2 seed in next week's NEC Tournament and will host No. 7 seed LIU on Thu., March 6 at 7:30 pm. Wagner is coming off a 78-67 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson on Thursday as junior swingman Jamal Smith tossed in a season-high 20 points while interior threats James Ulrich and Durell Vinson recorded double-doubles. The Bobcats come into tonight's game with a 15-13 overall mark are in fourth place in the NEC at 11-6. Quinnipiac and Mount St. Mary's will meet in the first round of the NEC Tournament although it not yet determined which team will be the host school.

SENIOR NIGHT... Wagner will salute a trio of seniors who have made an indelible mark on Seahawk basketball. In Mark Porter, James Ulrich and Durell Vinson, the Seahawks will honor a trio in a pre-game ceremony that has combined for 3,610 points, 1,660 rebounds and 726 assists in their careers. This group of seniors, whose names appear throughout the Wagner record book in a wide variety of categories, have contributed to 59 victories over their accomplished careers.

SORTING OUT THE SEEDS... The NEC men's basketball playoff picture began to come into focus on Thursday with Robert Morris earning the top seed in the tournament, while the battle for the final postseason spot has come down to Monmouth and Saint Francis (PA). Besides the Colonials, Wagner has locked up the No. 2 seed and will host No. 7 Long Island in the NEC quarterfinals, while No. 3 Sacred Heart will entertain No. 6 Central Connecticut State. Quinnipiac and Mount St. Mary's will meet in the quarterfinals as well, though it is yet to be determined which team will serve as host.

ULRICH NINE AWAY FROM 1,000... Senior forward James Ulrich enters tonight's game with 991 career points, just nine shy of joing teammates Mark Porter (1,519) and Durell Vinson (1,100) in the 1,000-point club.

WAGNER 5-0 IN OVERTIME GAMES THIS SEASON... The five overtime wins recorded by Wagner is tied for the second-most single-season OT wins in NCAA history with 13 other schools. The record for most OT wins in a single season is six, set by Wake Forest in 1984 (6-1) and matched by Chattanooga in 1989 (6-0) and by Lafayette, which is 6-1 in OT this season.

FOURTH 20th-WIN SEASON IN SCHOOL HISTORY... Wagner has achieved its fourth 20-win season in school history, joining the 1967-68 (21-8), 1978-79 (21-7) and the 2002-03 team (21-11) in this exclusive club.
