Wagner Concludes Season With 4-0 Loss To Sacred Heart



Adam Amster concludes his Seahawk career

West Windsor, NJ - No. 4 Sacred Heart defeated No. 9 Wagner by a 4-0 count in the consolation round Northeast Conference (NEC) Tennis Championships at the Mercer County Tennis Center. With the loss, the Seahawks finish their 2007-2008 campaign with a 2-16 record and in a tie for seventh place in the NEC.

Michael Syer defeated sophomore Ben Serbiak (Washington Crossing, PA / Holy Ghost Prep) 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Classmate Byron Clohessy was felled 6-0, 6-1 by Jinal Shah at No. 4 singles. Bryan Rodgers defeated senior Will Shuler (Springfield, MA / Central Springfield by an identical 6-0, 6-1 score at No. 5 singles.

Senior Adam Amster (Concord, MA / Concord-Carlisle), sophomore John LeBlanc (Staten Island, NY / Tottenville) and junior Sheldon Wilson were losing when Sacred Heart clinched the match, thus halting play.

Sacred Heart claimed the doubles point.

Wagner will graduate Amster and Shuler but return LeBlanc, Serbiak, Clohessy and Wilson to the fold next year.
