Separated by just a half-game in the crowded ACC standings, Wake Forest and Maryland are set to do battle in a season re-match on Thursday at Joel Coliseum. The game, which will tip-off at 8 p.m., will be broadcast by Raycom Sports.
The Deacons are 16-9 overall and 6-6 in the ACC. The Terrapins, who have already earned a win against Wake earlier this season, are 17-11 and 7-6 in league play. The winner of tonight's game could have a distinct advantage in seeding for the upcoming ACC Tournament.
Wake Forest comes in having won three of its last four. The Deacs had their three-game winning streak snapped on Sunday at North Carolina. The Terps have dropped three of their past four games.
Maryland downed Wake Forest, 71-64, on Jan. 15 in College Park. Ishmael Smith led the Deacs with 16 points, while James Johnson had 14 points and nine rebounds. The win pushed the Terps' all-time series margin to 60-54. Maryland has won three straight in the series, but Wake has taken three of the last four meetings at Joel Coliseum since 2003.
Quickie Notes - Wake Forest is one of three teams among the six BCS conferences to have multiple conference Rookie of the Week honorees.
