Wake Forest finished its third spring practice session on Saturday at the Doc Martin Football Practice Complex on the Wake Forest campus.
The Demon Deacons wore shoulder pads for the first time on Saturday. The team will go with full pads in their next practice session scheduled for Tuesday, April 1.
"It was fun to get the (shoulder) pads back on," said head coach Jim Grobe. "It was fun to see the kids hit each other a little bit. As you would expect, we were a little sloppy. But we have some guys who like to play football. I think the whole team is glad to be back together again."
Saturday's practice focused on special teams with additional work on both offense and defense. The Deacons continue to search for a long snapper to replace Nick Jarvis. Jarvis concluded his outstanding career by appearing in both the Hula Bowl and the East-West Shrine games as a long snapper.
The Deacons continue spring practice next week with afternoon sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday on campus. The squad is scheduled to practice at BB&T Field on Saturday, April 5.
