Final Round Results in PDF Format 
The 18th-ranked Wake Forest men's golf team salvaged a sixth-place tie after carding a 287 in the final round of the SunTrust Gator Invitational Sunday in Gainesville, Fla.
The Demon Deacons climbed five spots in the final two rounds and were 14th out of 14 teams midway through the first round.
Sophomore Brendan Gielow led the way for the Deacs, shooting a 71-68-69=208 (-2) to finish in a tie for ninth place overall. This is the fourth time this season Gielow has been the top finisher for Wake Forest. He posted 13 birdies in the two-day event, a team best.
Wake shot a 288-278-287=853 to put the Deacs at 13 over par for the weekend.
Duke and LSU tied Wake for sixth. The Blue Devils rose from an eleventh place tie Sunday and the Tigers fell one spot in the final round.
Chris McCartin tied for 34th after finishing six over par. He shot a 72 in every round. Dustin Groves came in 38th with a 75-69-73=217 (+7). Webb Simpson joined Groves in 38th after shooting 74-70-73=217 (+7) in the two-day event. Travis Wadkins landed in a tie for 44th after posting a 71-71-76=218 (+8).
Florida (269-273-278=820, -20) won the Gator Invitational for the 22nd time since 1978. Duke's Michael Schachner and Alabama-Birmingham's Zach Sucher were co-individual medalists at seven under par.
Coaches decided to end play without a playoff for the individual medal.
Wake returns to action March 9-10 at the General Hackler Championship at the TPC Club of Myrtle Beach.
