Simpson Eight Strokes Off Lead at Arnold Palmer Invitational

March 15, 2008

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Webb Simpson shot his best round of the week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, an even-par 70, to finish in a tie for 47th entering Sunday's final round at Bay Hill.

Simpson is eight strokes off the first-place score of 204 shared by six participants, including Tiger Woods and defending champion Vijay Singh.

The Wake Forest senior is scheduled for a 10:19 a.m. tee-off with D.J. Trahan, a Clemson product who won his first PGA event, the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, this January.

Simpson finished Saturday's round with two birdies, on holes eight and 14 of the par-70, 7,239-yard Bay Hill Club.

The Raleigh native has 10 birdies total for the first three rounds.
