Deacs Host Miami in Final Home Game on Sunday

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's basketball team will host their final home game of the 2007-08 season this Sunday as they battle Miami at 1:30 p.m.

The Hurricanes (9-17, 2-9) recently suffered a 79-61 loss to Atlantic Coast Conference leader North Carolina on Thursday evening in Miami. Senior guard Maurita Reid leads `Canes with game averages of 16 points and 5.7 rebounds. Miami has had two overtime conference losses this season, both at home, to Virginia Tech and Florida State and holds wins over Georgia Tech (54-52) and Clemson (66-61).

The Demon Deacons (14-13, 1-11) will look to get back on track following their 56-36 loss to NC State at the Joel Coliseum last Sunday. Wake Forest's only conference win this season came on its home turf, when the Deacs defeated the Hokies 67-50 on February 7.

Miami holds a 3-2 advantage in the all-time series since the teams first met in 1983. Wake Forest last defeated the Hurricanes during Miami's first year of Atlantic Coast Conference play, in January of 2005, where the Deacs won 78-63 in Miami.

At the contest, Wake Forest will honor lone senior Christen Brown. In her fourth and final season with the Demon Deacons, Brown has showcased her steady improvement by setting nine personal records, including new career highs in points (21), rebounds (11) and shooting percentage (.692). Brown has started 41 games since 2004, including 22 this season. All together, she has amassed 380 points, 290 rebounds through more than 1600 minutes on the court. On Sunday, Brown will be playing in her 102nd game with the Demon Deacons.

On Sunday, March 2, the Demon Deacons will wrap up regular season action when they face Virginia Tech for the second time this year. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. in Blacksburg, Va.
