Oakville, Ont., Canada - Washington golfer Nick Taylor was tabbed the top Canadian male amateur at the 27th annual SCOREGolf Awards ceremony held Monday which kicked off the start of this week's RBC Canadian Open which Taylor will play in, July 24-27.

A native of Abbotsford, B.C. and a junior-to-be with the Huskies, Taylor earned his first career All-America honors and was the runner-up at both the NCAA Championships and NCAA West Regional this past season. Taylor followed up those efforts playing in the 2008 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines Golf Course in June.

The RBC Canadian Open will be held at Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville, Ont. Taylor gained entrance into the tournament by winning last year's Canadian Amateur title.

Taylor will tee off first round play on Thursday from the first hole at 2:05 p.m. ET. His second round will play from the 10th tee at 8:50 a.m. ET on Friday. After the first two rounds, the 156-player field will be cut to the lowest 70 scores and ties. Stroke play will continue through Sunday to determine the winner.
