Jayson Miller Receives Academic Award

May 8, 2008

PULLMAN, Wash. - Senior Jayson Miller was named CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine All-Academic District VIII First Team, Thursday.

The Richland, Wash., native is the first Cougar to receive the honor since Collin Henderson and Brandon Reddinger in 2004. Miller is an accounting major with a 3.69 grade point average.

On the mound, the left-hander has a team-leading six wins (6-1) and 57 strikeouts in 74 and two-thirds innings. He has pitched at least six innings in each of his 11 starts to become the first Cougar since former Major League pitcher Robert Ramsay in 1996 to log at least six innings in 11-straight starts.

Miller is eligible to be an academic All-American with voting for that honor beginning May 13.
