Catamount Football Spring Practice Opens Monday Afternoon

March 31, 2008

Cullowhee, N.C. - The Western Carolina Catamount Football team takes to the turf at E.J Whitmire Stadium / Bob Waters Field for the first of 15 days of Spring Practice on Monday afternoon under first-year head coach Dennis Wagner.

Wagner plans on utilizing afternoon practices four times during the week, with meeting and practice times in the morning on weekends, including scrimmage sessions. The squad will practice five days a week, taking both Wednesday's and Sunday's off from team activities.

The NCAA-regulated, off-season practices will be spread over a 20-day period, culminating with the annual Spring Game at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 19th. Festivities will commence with the first-ever "A Taste of Tailgating" at the stadium with area vendors providing free food samples for fans.

Fans can check back to CatamoutSports.com for practices reports, as well as photo galleries from spring drills throughout the two-week practice period. Also, be on the lookout for conversations with the Catamount defensive coordinator, Matt Pawlowski, and offensive coordinator, Keith Heckendorf.
