CATAMOUNT TRACKS PODCAST INTERVIEW WITH DENNIS WAGNER
Cullowhee, N.C. - After spending its off-day on Sunday passing out tickets to this Saturday's annual Spring Game at area Ingles and Wal-mart stores, the Catamount football team returned to practice on Monday afternoon in shorts and helmets on a chilly afternoon.
With intermittent snow showers falling across the mountains, the Catamounts worked out for nearly two hours on Monday afternoon, spending the majority of the time working individually by position and as units on installation at E.J. Whitmire Stadium / Bob Waters Field.
The units did come together for short 7-on-7 scenarios working on the installed items, but the majority of the light workout was spent with the field split, offense and defense.
On Sunday, the squad handed out ticket reminders to the Spring Game at the Ingles stores in Sylva, Waynesville, Canton and Franklin, as well as the Wal-mart in Sylva. The players interacted with the community shoppers, receiving well-wishes from many that traversed into the stores.
Tuesday's football practice is slated to be helmet and shoulder pads only, fulfilling the NCAA requirements during spring drills for helmet-only and helmet-shoulder pads only practices mandated by the governing body.
Western will have two remaining practices on Thursday and Friday leading up to Saturday afternoon's Spring Game in Cullowhee. Festivities commence with the first-ever "A Taste of Tailgating" beginning at Noon with the game slated to start at 1:00 pm. Following the action, first-year head coach Dennis Wagner and the Catamounts will be available for an on-field, post-game autograph session.
