Western Carolina head baseball coach Bobby Moranda, as well as appearances by Catamount head men's basketball coach and Lady Catamount head coach Kellie Harper, headline Wednesday's edition of "In the Litterbox," a weekly interactive sports talk show produced and aired on WWCU-FM, Power 90dot5. The show airs tonight (Feb. 20) from 7:00 until 8:00 pm and can also be heard online at www.WWCUFM.com.
Also, WCU Director of Athletic Promotions, James Cramer, will stop by the Litterbox to discuss upcoming promotions including Saturday's Catamount basketball double-header, to be televised LIVE on SportSouth.
Moranda will look back at the successful "Celebration of Catamount Baseball" which was held back on Feb. 9 at the Crest Center in Asheville. He will also look ahead to the season-opening, three-game series this weekend against former SoCon member, Marshall.
Hunter and Harper will recap a busy week in Catamount hoops, and talk about the upcoming match-ups headed down the stretch towards the Southern Conference basketball tournaments, March 7-10, in Charleston, S.C.
The Catamount men host UNC Greensboro on Thursday night before entertaining The Citadel in game two of the two TV hoops games Saturday afternoon. The Lady Cats, coming off a double-overtime win against Furman on Monday, will honor their four seniors in a pre-game ceremony Saturday, with tip-off set for 12:30 pm against the third-place Georgia Southern Lady Eagles.
In its third season, "In the Litterbox" (ITL) spotlights Western Carolina Catamount athletics with discussion of events, as well as interviews with coaches, student-athletes and other Catamount personalities. The show is co-hosted by WCU student, Josh Thompson, of Lincolnton, N.C., and Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations, Daniel Hooker, and is produced by station student general manager, Kyle McCurry.
WWCU-FM, Power 90dot5 continues to serve as the Flagship Station of Catamount Athletics this season, broadcasting Catamount football, men's and women's basketball, and baseball. WWCU has also been a partner with WCU Athletics in broadcasting the SoCon Women's Soccer Championship and NCAA tournament appearance, as well as the first-ever Catamount Softball games two years ago continuing with both the softball and baseball SoCon tournaments.
