CHARLESTON, S.C. - No. 2 seed Western Carolina women's basketball opens Southern Conference Tournament play in the quarterfinals against No. 10 seed Wofford at 10 a.m. Friday at North Charleston Coliseum.
The Wofford Terriers (10-20) upset No. 7 seed Furman 57-50 in the first round of the SoCon Tournament Thursday. Western Carolina is 2-1 against the Terriers in the SoCon Tournament and 22-7 all time. The Lady Catamounts swept Wofford in the regular season defeated the Terriers 76-55 in Spartanburg and 87-65 in Cullowhee.
Western Carolina has a record of 23-7 entering the tournament, with the 23 victories the most in the regular season in school history. The Lady Catamounts are coming off a 72-66 loss at Chattanooga to close out the regular season. This year, Western Carolina is 3-1 when coming off a loss.
The Lady Catamounts are 4-5 all-time in quarterfinal games. Head Coach Kellie Harper is 6-2 in her first three years in the Southern Conference Tournament.
