Montgomery, Ala. After a series of home matches, the West Florida Men's Tennis team (16-3, 3-0 GSC) returned to away action and earned two more wins and a loss this weekend at the Blue Gray Invitational, played at Montgomery, Alabama. The fourth ranked Argonauts moved to the semifinals of the tournament after knocking NAIA opponent Lindsey Wilson (1-2) 6-2, on Thursday March 27th. The Argos earned the 2-1 lead over the Blue Raiders after doubles play by dropping at #1 spot. The Blue Raider earned its second point in the #3 singles position, while the Argos won four more points in singles play. The Argonauts extended its winning streak to five consecutive matches to improve its record to 15-2, while the Blue Raiders dropped to a 1-2 record. With the win, the Argonauts set up a semifinal clash against Armstrong-Atlantic on Friday.

In the semifinals of the invitational, played on Friday, March 28, the West Florida Men's Tennis Team (16-3, 3-0 GSC) faced Division II top ranked team, Armstrong-Atlantic (17-0). The Pirates snapped the Argonauts winning streak with a 7-2 final score. The Pirates earned two out of three points after doubles action, as the Argos #2 duo earned a victory over the 12th ranked duo from Armstrong-Atlantic. In singles, the Argos fell short in every spot, except in the #6 spot, when Patrick Batman earned a victory over 30th ranked player from the Armstrong-Atlantic. The Argos dropped its overall record to 15-3, while the Pirates improved to 17-0. The Pirates advanced to the final against top ranked NAIA Auburn-Montgomery, while the Argonauts set up a clash against UC San Diego

The West Florida men's tennis team then moved to the back draw and faced also Division II opponent, 6th ranked UC San Diego. The Argonauts cruised over the Tritons with a 6-3 win. The Argos blanked the Tritons in the doubles action and earned the comfortable 3-0 lead. In singles, both team split three matches each, with the Argonauts winning in the #2, #5 and #6 spots. The Argonauts improved its record to 16-3, while the Tritons dropped to a 9-8.

The UWF men's tennis team returns from a competitive weekend at Montgomery. The Argonauts improved to a 16-3 overall record after the Blue Gray Invitational. The Argos will return to action on Tuesday, April 1st, at 2:00p.m. CT. when will face 25th ranked BYU-Hawaii at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carlson Complex, located at the UWF main campus.
