MONTGOMERY, Ala. The 16th ranked West Florida Women's Tennis Team (13-9, 4-1 GSC) continued its outstanding action in the Gulf South Conference Championship. The Argonauts defeated Delta State (12-2, 6-0 GSC) 5-3 in the semifinals of the tournament this Saturday, April 19th at the Lagoon Park and O'Conner Tennis Center in Montgomery, Ala. The Argonauts entered the tournament as the second GSC East Division seeded, after being declared the regular conference season runner-up. The Argonauts won its second match of the day, as they defeated Henderson earlier in the quarterfinal round.
With the win, the Argonauts posted earned its 13th win of the season and now holds a 13-9 overall record. The Argos advanced to the final round of the Gulf South Conference Tournament against fourth ranked Valdosta State (10-5, 4-0 GSC). The Argonauts have defeated the Blazer in the final of last year's tournamen. However, the Blazers defeated the Argos 7-2 earlier this year during the regular season. The match will be played at the same site in Montgomery, Ala. this Saturday, April 20, 2008 at 9:00a.m. CT.
