TEAM NOTES

Gonzaga Bulldogs

-The Gonzaga women finished third at the WCC Championships last year, shooting a three-round score of 963. The third place finish tied a program record for the best final result at the WCC Championships.

-Junior Trevor Loe and freshman Brandon Crick return in 2008 after shooting a final-round 74 to tie for ninth at the 2007 WCC Championship. Crick and Loe earned All-WCC honorable mention honors, and Crick was voted the Freshman of the Year by the league's coaches, the first such honor for a Bulldog.

-The Gonzaga men finished seventh at the WCC Championship.

-The men's team opens up the 2008 season at the Braveheart Classic while the women's team will meet several WCC opponents in the San Jose State Spartan Invitational, both March 3-4.

Loyola Marymount Lions

-The Lions posted a final round 290 to finish all three rounds with an 866 at the UC Irvine Anteater Invitational, good for third place.

-Junior Brian Locke made up a four-stroke deficit in the final round to force a playoff for the individual championship with Santa Clara's Scott Travers. Locke finished second for his 14th career top-five finish and his second of the 2007-08 season.

-The Lions finished with three players in the top-15 as senior Jason D'Amore finished in a tie for fourth with a three-under-par 213, while junior Greg Moss finished in a tie for 11th with a three-round score of 220.

-Next up the Lions will head to the USC Invitational at North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village next Monday and Tuesday, March 3-4.

Pepperdine Waves

-The Pepperdine men's golf team claimed a tie for ninth place at the John Hayt Invitational in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.

-Jesse Barnsley was the Waves high finisher for the tournament, as he claimed his second top 10 finish of the season with a three-round score of 217, good for an eighth place finish.

-The women's team finished eighth overall in a field of 16 teams, ten of which are nationally ranked, at the University of Arizona Wildcat Invitational with a team score of 914

-Taylore Karle shot a first round one-under-par 71 to lead the Waves with a three-round total score of 220, good for a fifth place tie.

-The men's team continues the season at the USC Intercollegiate March 3-4, while the women take two weeks off before traveling to the UCF Collegiate Challenge in Orlando, FL 3/9-3/11.

Portland Pilots

-The Portland men's team claimed a fourth place finish in the UC Irvine Anteater Invitational with a team score of 889.

-Portland sophomore Terence Macatangay led the Pilots with a 4-over 220 to tie for 11th place overall. Sophomore Thomas Robertson (+7) and freshman Justin Smithhisler (+8) finished 17th and tied for 18th, respectively.

-The Pilots women's golf team opened the 2008 spring schedule by tying for seventh place at the Lady Braveheart Classic.

-Sophomore Paige Rachor was Portland's top individual finisher with a 163 (+19) and tied for 21st place overall. Junior Taryn Kuida finished one stroke behind Rachor with a 164 (80-84), which tied her for 25th overall.

Saint Mary's Gaels

-The Saint Mary's men's golf team finished fourth at the 2007 WCC Championship. It marked the sixth straight season they have finished in the top half of the conference.

-The Gaels' top finisher was freshman Robert McRae, as he finished fourth overall in the tournament to earn All-WCC first team honors. Joining him on the all-conference team was his older brother, Mike McRae, while freshman Daniel Cone earned honorable mention status.

-Saint Mary's head coach Scott Hardy was named the WCC Coach of the Year for the fourth time in his career.

-The Gaels open the 2008 season at the Callaway Collegiate Invitational, held March 10-11 in Rancho Santa Fe, California.

San Diego Toreros

-The USD men's golf team shot a final round 281 to finish in 14th place at the 2008 John Burns Intercollegiate last week.

-Jason Shano matched the low round on the final day with an excellent 65 (7 under par) to finish in a tie for 10th at 208.

-Shano was followed by Dale Smith (t44, 214), Bucky Coe (t50, 215), Blake Trimble (t70, 219) and Jake Yount (t70, 232), as San Diego finished at eight-under-par with a team score of 856 in a field of 21 teams.

-The Toreros continue their season by hosting the USD Callaway Collegiate Invitational March 10-11 at The Farms Golf Club.

San Francisco Dons

-The San Francisco men's golf team finished the 2008 Anteater Invitational in 8th place with a three-round team score of 907.

-Sophomore Chris Cunningham was the Dons top finisher, tied for 24th place with a total score of 225.

-The Dons women's team finished fourth at the 2008 Kitahara Fresno State Invitational with a final score of 597 in the 36-hole event at Copper River Country Club.

-Sophomore Danielle Cvitanov was the top finisher for the Dons in fifth place at 146 (73, 73) and led the team with a pair of birdies in the final round.

-The men's team continues their season at the Hargrove B. Davis Invitational in North Carolina while the women's team will compete in the San Jose State Spartan Invitational, both 3/3-3/4.

Santa Clara Broncos

-The Santa Clara men's golf team claimed a first place finish at the UC Irvine Anteater Invitational with a team score of 857 after all three rounds to win by four strokes.

-Sophomore Scott Travers led the Broncos with a first place finish after shooting even par in the third round to force a playoff with Loyola Marymount's Brian Locke.

-Four players finished in the top 11 led by Travers. Not far behind was Jimmy Cacho, with an overall score of 213, good for a 4th place finish. Alex Bon shot a 219 putting him in the 10th place spot, followed by Tim Lynch with a 220, putting him in 11th place.

-The women's team finished 12th at the Kitihara Fresno State Classic, led by Miki Ueoka who recorded her third straight top ten finish.
