The Green Bay men's and women's Nordic ski teams concluded its penultimate Central Collegiate Ski Association event Sunday with the classic races at the SuperTour races at the Telemark Resort.
For the second straight day the Phoenix women had a stellar team effort, placing all of its skiers in the top 40 among CCSA racers and three in the top 20 to take fourth place overall. Ashley Pletcher led the way in the 10K classic, finishing 11th among collegians with a 32:45.0 time. Carolyn Freeman took 13th while Steph LaFrance had her best finish of the season, taking third among Green Bay skiers and 18th in CCSA standings.
On the men's side, Santi Ocariz was Green Bay's top finisher with a ninth place finish, staying in the hunt for NCAA qualification with a 41:28.4 finish in the 15K event. Craig Hertz was 17th among collegians while Bryan Gastonguay was third for Green Bay and 23rd overall.
Green Bay will compete in a dual race Dec. 9-10 at Marquette, Mich. before concluding CCSA qualifying Feb. 16-17 at Giant's Ridge, Minn.
