Green Bay Athletics Teams With Charities for Saturday Game
Feb. 8, 2008
GREEN BAY, Wis. - Phoenix fans have the opportunity to donate to a pair of good causes Saturday night as the men's basketball team takes on Butler at the Resch Center. Green Bay Athletics has teamed up with Cellcom to hold a food drive to help those in need. Fans are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items or make monetary donations. All donations will go to the Salvation Army and will be matched by Cellcom, which will also make a matching donation in July when food pantries run short on the necessary items. In addition, Cellcom and Green Bay will partner for the same cause during the Green Bay women's game against Valparaiso at the Kress Center on Thursday, Feb. 14. Also this Saturday, fans may make a contribution to the Heavenly Hats Foundation, which is a program to provide brand new hats for cancer and other medical patients who lose their hair due to disease or disease treatment. Hat donation bins will be set up in the Resch Center lobby. In addition to hat donations, fans can also make monetary contributions to the Heavenly Hats Foundation. All who donate money will be entered in a raffle. Raffle prizes include a Brett Favre autographed photo, a LeBron James autographed basketball and a Kareem Abdul-Jabbar autographed jersey. Monetary donations can be made in the concourse. The game against Butler starts at 7:05 p.m. Saturday. The Bulldogs, ranked No. 10 in the nation, are the highest ranked team ever to play in Green Bay. --www.uwgbathletics.com-- |
