Three Phoenix Men Earn League Accolades

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Three Green Bay men's basketball players earned postseason awards from the Horizon League based on balloting from the league's coaches, sports information directors and selected media members. Mike Schachtner was named Second-Team All-League, Terry Evans was voted the Defensive Player of the Year, while Rahmon Fletcher earned a spot on the All-Newcomer squad. Schachtner, a junior, is a second-team selection for the second straight year. He currently ranks third in the league in scoring average (15.8), first in free throw percentage (.901), third in 3-point percentage (.468), 10th in field goal percentage (.482) and 19th in rebounding (4.3). He has nine 20-point games this year, including a 27-point night in the regular season finale. Evans, a junior, was named to the All-Defensive Team for the third consecutive season and is the first-ever recipient of the Defensive Player of the Year Award. He is the school's all-time blocked shot leader (113) and ranks second in school history in steals (169). Evans currently ranks among the league's leaders in steals (2nd), blocked shots (3rd) and rebounds (5th). Fletcher, the lone starting freshman point guard in the league, is averaging 10.0 points per game and leads the team in assists at 3.2 per game. He ranks seventh in the league in assists and 11th in assist/turnover ratio. Fletcher scored a career-high 29 points against South Dakota State on 12-of-14 shooting from the field, including 4-of-4 from 3-point range.
