MACOMB, Ill. - The Green Bay men's golf team had a solid showing in its second spring tournament of the year Friday, as the Phoenix is currently tied for fourth in the annual 17-team Beu/Mussatto Invitational at the Harry Mussatto Golf Course.

After the first round, Green Bay was in a tie for third place, as Adam Austreng's even-par 72 was tied for second overall. Brady Mork was four shots back for an 18th place tie in the tight field.

But in the second round, the Phoenix fell off South Dakota State's pace and stood in a tie for fourth place with Oakland. Again Austreng led the Phoenix, this time with a two-over 74 to move into a fourth-place tie, just two strokes off the overall lead.

Garrett Gosh turned in the second-best second round for Green Bay with a three-over 75 to match Mork's 10-over 154 total.

Travis Meyer and Bo Van Handel rounded out the field for Green Bay, as both are tied for 47th with 16-over 160. Peter Gobis played as an individual golfer, posting a 167 in two rounds.

Western Illinois' Jared Steger and SDSU's Trent Peterson both are even par after two rounds to lead the 90-golfer field. The host Leathernecks are just nine over to lead the 17-team tournament, while Indian Hills CC is second, trailing by 12 strokes.

The tournament wraps up Saturday with one round of action starting at 10 a.m.
