Men's Golf Secures Fourth Place at Beu/Mussatto Invitational

MACOMB, Ill. - The Green Bay men's golf team rallied in the third round of the Beu/Mussatto Invitational Saturday, pulling to within two strokes of third place as the Phoenix finished fourth in the in the annual 17-team event at the Harry Mussatto Golf Course.

Garrett Gosh shot a two-over 74 Saturday, vaulting him into a tie for 14th overall with teammate Adam Austreng.

Brady Mork tied his four-over 76 from the tournament's first round to place 18th overall.

Also aiding in the charge was Travis Meyer, who had a team-best one-over 73 on Saturday to finish tied for 24th overall.

Bo Van Handel rounded out Green Bay's squad with a 243 in three rounds. Peter Gobis finished with a 249 as an individual golfer.

Host Western Illinois claimed the team title with an 18-stroke lead over second-place Indian Hills CC. South Dakota State edged the Phoenix for third place, as SDSU's Trent Peterson claimed medalist honors.

Green Bay returns to action April 14 at Loyola. The team's home event scheduled for Monday, April 7 has been cancelled due to poor course conditions at Green Bay Country Club.
