Men's Golf Wraps Up 2008 Campaign With Sixth Place Finish at Horizon League Championship

LEBANON, Ohio - The Green Bay men's golf team finished sixth out of seven teams at the 2008 Horizon League Men's Golf Championship at Shaker Run Golf Course, hosted by Wright State University.

Junior Adam Austreng was unable to hold onto his slim first-day lead, as he shot a five-over 77 to finish tied for fourth overall with a two-over 218. Jake Scott of Cleveland State was the lone golfer to shoot below par for three rounds, as his two-under effort claimed medalist honors.

Green Bay's Garrett Gosh moved up one position with his final round, as he shot a two-over 74 on Tuesday, aided by an eagle on the par 5 10th.

Green Bay's final three golfers struggled on the final day. Brady Mork dropped to 29th after a tough 11-over 83 on Tuesday. Travis Meyer was able to move up to 31st with an eight-over 80, while Carson Solien concluded Green Bay's team with a 248 total and a 33rd place finish.

Thanks to his top five performance, Austreng earned Horizon League All-Tournament team accolades. Meyer was named to the eight-player All-Horizon League squad.

Cleveland State took the team title, edging second place Detroit by two strokes. Youngstown State finished third as the top three teams were separated by seven strokes. Green Bay was just four shots from a tie for fourth place, as the remaining four teams were separated by just six strokes.
