The Green Bay men's tennis team got the 2008 dual season underway Saturday as the Phoenix dropped a 7-0 decision to No. 27 Wisconsin at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
Green Bay's Mark Goldin and Tim Prudlow battled tough at No. 1 doubles, dropping the tiebreaker to fall 9-8 (4). The Phoenix also had a strong showing at No. 2 doubles, where Matt Clegg and Matt Keesey pressed Michael Muskievicz and Marek Michalicka to the limit before falling 8-6.
In singles action, the Badgers dominated, dropping just one set in six matches. Clegg tallied Green Bay's set win at No. 3, winning the first set in a tie-breaker before falling 7-6 (3), 6-0, 10-7.
The Phoenix returns to action Feb. 2 against Eastern Illinois in a neutral court match in Milwaukee.
