Men's Tennis Defeats University of Chicago 5-2

CHICAGO - The Green Bay men's tennis team posted a 5-2 victory Sunday over the University of Chicago, giving the Maroons their first loss against a Division I opponent in three contests this season. Green Bay took the first point of the day with a doubles sweep, with Matt Clegg and Matt Keesey recording an 8-2 victory at No. 2 doubles. Phoenix pairs of Mark Goldin and Tim Prudlow at No. 1 doubles and Eric Plaushines and Brian Zaron at No. 3 doubles were also victorious. In singles play, John Brough was convincing in a 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 5 slot, while Keesey registered a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles. Prudlow rallied in three sets for a 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles. Clegg had Green Bay's other victory in singles action with a hard-fought 6-7 (6-10), 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles. Green Bay returns to action Friday, Feb. 29 at Northern Illinois. |
