MILWAUKEE - The Green Bay men's tennis team (9-10) had its three-match winning streak halted Wednesday with its 6-1 setback to instate rival Marquette at Helfaer Tennis Stadium.

Freshman John Brough claimed Green Bay's lone point on the day, rallying from a first-set deficit at No. 4 singles for a 2-6, 7-5, 1-0 win.

Marquette took the early lead by capturing the doubles point with a sweep, but not without a fight. At No. 1 doubles, Mark Goldin and Tim Prudlow fell 9-8 in an epic match, while Matt Keesey and Matt Clegg could not out-duel Stephen Shao and Pete Van Lieshout in a 9-7 contest.

In singles play, only Brough's match went three sets as Marquette edged the Phoenix in straight sets in the other five matches. Eric Plaushines battled before a 6-4, 6-4 loss at No. 6 singles.

Green Bay continues a road-weary week Friday at Horizon League foe Youngstown State.
