Men's Tennis Defeats Youngstown State 7-0

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Green Bay men's tennis team won its fourth dual in its fifth outing Friday evening as the Phoenix topped Horizon League host Youngstown State 7-0. Matt Clegg, Matt Keesey and Brian Zaron were all two-time winners for the Phoenix. Clegg and Keesey paired for an 8-5 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Zaron and Eric Plaushines were victorious at No. 3 doubles to give the Phoenix the early lead. In singles action, Green Bay had the convincing upper hand, taking five matches by straight sets. Keesey got the lone shutout in a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles. Clegg notched a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles, while Zaron rounded out the two-time winners with a straight-set victory in the No. 5 spot. Seniors Tim Prudlow and Mark Goldin were victorious at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, with Prudlow rallying in a three-set win. John Brough rounded out the Phoenix scorecard with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 4 singles. Green Bay returns to action Saturday with its penultimate regular season dual against Cleveland State. |
