GREEN BAY, Wis. - Green Bay men's tennis coach Dan Oliver announced today the addition of Brian McCarthy (Edina, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's) and Paul Swanson (Coon Rapids, Minn./Blaine) to his roster for the 2008-09 season. Both Minnesota prep standouts signed National Letters of Intent and will enroll at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay for the 2008-09 academic year.

"We are very excited to have both Brian and Paul join us for the fall of 2008," said Oliver. "Both have been playing tennis at the national level, and that experience alone brings a high level of competition to our program. They will have a chance to play and contribute right away."

McCarthy was a two-time all-conference selection and was a sectional champion to advance to the 2007 Minnesota State High School League state championship, where he advanced to the quarterfinals. The 6-4 McCarthy was ranked as high as 5th in the United States Tennis Association Northern Section in Boys' 18 Singles and is currently 14th overall in the latest ranking.

Swanson is currently ranked third in the Northern Section Boys' 18 Singles by the USTA and currently ranks 96th nationally. At the prep level, the 5-9 Swanson owns a 71-9 record heading into his senior season at Blaine High School, where he has been the No. 1 singles player all four years. As a junior in 2007, Swanson was the MSHSL Class AA Singles state runner-up to go with a third-place finish in 2006.
