Groh Gains Academic All-District V Second Team Honors For Second Straight Year

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Kayla Groh, a senior guard on the Green Bay women's basketball team, was named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District V second team for the second straight year, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced today. With Groh's selection, Green Bay continued its streak of academic success. Since 1999, eight Green Bay women's basketball student-athletes have earned Academic All-District V honors 11 times. Groh becomes the third Phoenix player in that time span to be a two-time honoree. The Elkhart Lake, Wis., native currently leads Green Bay in scoring with 13.6 points per game in her third year as a starter. She is also ranked in the top 100 in the NCAA in free throw percentage (ninth, .897) and assist/turnover ratio (68th, 1.67). In the classroom, Groh boasts a 3.68 grade point average in business administration. Along with being twice named an academic all-district selection, Groh has also been named to the Horizon League's academic all-league team. Green Bay (16-4, 8-1) faces Youngstown State Thursday, Feb. 7 at 4:15 p.m. CT. as the Phoenix begins the second round of its Horizon League cycle. |
