Women's Golf Opens Season With Seventh-Place Showing at Racer Classic

MURRAY, Ky. - The Green Bay women's golf team opened the spring season with a seventh-place showing at the 2008 NewWave Communications Racer Classic in Murray, Ky. The final round was cancelled Tuesday after too much rain fell overnight on Murray State's home course, Miller Memorial Golf Club.

Therefore, Monday's 18-hole scores determined the final standings. The Phoenix posted a score of 390 (+102), while Murray State won the event with a sum of 319 (+31).

Green Bay's top finisher was Ellyn Hansen (Milton, Wis.), who tied for 29th with a score of 90, while Allison Winter (Shawano, Wis.) totaled a 96 to place 42nd. Madaline Selig (Green Bay, Wis.), Anne Mandich (De Pere, Wis.) and Jessica Guzek (De Pere, Wis.) placed 44th, 45th and 46th, respectively.

Green Bay is next in action March 21 at the Campbell Dual match in Buies Creek, N.C. The Phoenix has four more spring events prior to the Horizon League Championships, which are April 26-27 in Carmel, Ind.
