DAYTON, Ohio - The Green Bay softball team (6-15, 0-5) couldn't avoid the sweep against Wright State (16-16, 5-2) in Sunday afternoon's conclusion of the three-game Horizon League series. The Phoenix offensive outburst was not enough as Green Bay fell 13-8 for its seventh straight loss.

Starting pitcher Anna Bluemel (4-6) struggled early, getting through only 1/3 of an inning after giving up five hits and five earned runs. Wright State was aggressive early, scoring nine runs in the first two innings, a deficit the Phoenix could not overcome.

Missy Schleicher was the hitting star for Green Bay, as she accumulated a career-high six RBIs in the game. In the second inning, Schleicher had a two-run single, and in the third she belted a two-out grand slam. The junior more than doubled her season RBI total with the outburst.

Green Bay, which trailed 6-1 after one frame and 9-3 following two innings, cut the deficit to just one, 9-8, though three innings. Phoenix reliever Andrea Pigeon kept the Raiders in check in the third, fourth and fifth innings, but was tagged for four runs in the sixth as Wright State put the game out of reach.

Green Bay totaled 10 hits, as four different players had two-hit games. It was the third highest team hit total for the Phoenix this season. Vanessa Lefan was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored.

Wright State belted four home runs and totaled 15 base hits. For the three-game series, the Raiders tallied 31 runs.

The Phoenix returns to action Thursday at 2 p.m. as it hosts Loyola in the team's home opener. A second game will follow at 4 p.m.
