KISSIMMEE, Fla. - For the third consecutive day, the Green Bay softball team (3-8) won the opening game of its twinbill, but was unable to pick up a sweep Sunday at the Rebel Spring Games. All three losses for the Phoenix at the tournament have been by one run.

Green Bay took the morning contest over Rhode Island by a 5-2 score. Anna Bluemel picked up her second win of the tournament by tossing a four-hitter after shrugging off a shaky start. She allowed a pair of runs in the first frame, before settling in and finishing the game with six strikeouts.

Mollie Kaebisch was the hitting star for the Phoenix, as the junior went 2-for-3 with a double and a triple. Melanie Neiderer also had a 2-for-3 effort, while Krissy Hanson registered an RBI.

The fifth inning was the key frame offensively once again, as the Phoenix put four on the board to take the lead. Green Bay added an insurance tally in the sixth. Defensively, catcher Samantha Howe threw out all three runners that attempted to steal.

In the afternoon tilt, Fairleigh Dickinson earned a come-from-behind 4-3 triumph. Green Bay entered the seventh with a 3-2 lead, but allowed a pair of runs in the final frame. The Knights outhit the Phoenix 10-3.

Dana Brockman went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Green Bay. Starter Amanda Margelofsky was a tough luck loser for the Phoenix, as several Texas leaguers fell in for hits.

Green Bay takes a break from action Monday before finishing out its stay in Florida with double headers on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
