GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Green Bay softball team (10-23, 4-9) has earned the No. 6 seed for the Horizon League Softball Tournament and will open the event on Thursday against seventh-seeded Butler (16-27, 5-12). Game time is set for 9 a.m. at the Loyola Softball Park in Chicago.

Green Bay won both regular-season meetings with the Bulldogs, sweeping a double header on April 27 by scores of 3-2 and 4-2.

The winner of the game will face top-seeded Cleveland State at 4 p.m. Thursday. The loser of the Green Bay-Butler game will play on Friday against the loser of the UIC-Youngstown State first-round match up.

The tournament is a double-elimination format that will feature 16 games played from Thursday through Saturday. If necessary, the deciding game will be played on Sunday morning. The winner of the tournament receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Green Bay won the tournament in 2005 to earn its first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament.
