April 14, 2008

MILWAUKEE - Senior Jesse Hart of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee baseball team has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week, the league office announced today.

Hart led UWM to a 4-1 record last week after he hit .579 (11-for-19), including eight extra-base hits (six doubles/two home runs). Hart also scored nine runs, drove in 10 runs, slugged at a 1.211 clip, posted a .571 on-base percentage and did not make an error in 14 chances. Hart finished the week by knocking in the game-winning RBI's in Sunday's 6-5 victory over Cleveland State.

Hart has raised his average nearly 100 points in the past 12 games. He was batting .214 March 23 and is now at .311 after going 22-for-49 in the past dozen games, driving in 19 while collecting 11 doubles and two home runs.

The award is the first of the season for the UWM baseball team and also the first of Hart's career.
